College Life and Shiny Boybands

Oh hello. I’m sorry it has been such a long time since I last posted. So, here is what I have been up to in the past eight weeks or so…

As of this post, it is already the eighth week since classes at De La Salle University have started. I’m a freshman (frosh) there so yay! I made some friends (mostly friends of my half-Japanese friend Mariel) who are anime-addicts and gamers.

Mariel goes with me anywhere and everywhere (and I go with her) ever since we met at the freshman orientation. She loves anime as in LOVES anime, she draws very well in a manga-like art style too, and she loves Tales of the Abyss. Ronie has helped me a lot already, giving me PSP games and helping me get the old-school PS1 games to play on the PSP…he even buys me Rice Krispies when I ask (Thanks Ronie!) XD When those two -and Lorenzo who is one of their classmates from highschool- get together, they are so funny, my sides hurt. And as expected, I’m the only one in the group interested in Japanese or Korean boybands. The favorites of mine being Hey! Say! JUMP (Japanese) and Super Junior (Korean)…Sometimes I wonder if my incessant fangirling at school and on chat has gotten my new friends’ nerves yet..but then, Mariel is a fangirl herself, so ^_^

My classes as of the first term are MATH111 or College Algebra, INTHROP or Introduction to Anthropology, INTROPSY or Introduction to Psychology (because I’m taking BS-Psychology anyway), CRITHIN meaning Critical Thinking, BOTAONE means Botany and LBYBIOA or Biology Lab. Pretty basic things actually. Math is hard for me but the sciences are okay. Oh, and Bio Lab is almost always comedy hour with my blockmates -and the professor too- always cracking jokes. Corny plant-related jokes, text message jokes, puns and even the random Bahay Kubo song with the scientific names of the plants used instead are just some of the goings-on during that class. Oh, and I have Naval ROTC on Saturdays.

In Critical Thinking, I recently found out that my professor is a karerista, meaning he bets on horses. This came as a surprise to me because…well, my mother used to be a sportscaster but is now a racing journalist, my father is a jockey and my grandfather trains the horses. I take Prof. Leoncini’s being a karerista to be a good thing ^_^

I’ve started to study other Asian languages. I’m making some progress with basic Japanese and Korean. My mom told me she’ll look for her Chinese language tapes for me to listen to…someday. If I get good enough at Japanese and Korean, I would hopefully be able to understand what Chinen Yuuri and Kim Heechul are saying XD

School work and studying aside, I one day hope to see a live performance of my shiny boybands, Hey! Say! JUMP and Super Junior…What other shiny boybands do I like? Well, there’s H.O.T (High Five of Teenagers) who used to be a shiny boyband until around five years ago when they disbanded. There is also Kanjani8, NEWS and KAT-TUN who are all from the same talent agency as HSJ….hmm…That’s about all the shiny boybands I really like out there. I think I’ll just spend my boring moments hoping Super Junior will have a Super Show or at least a fan meet here in th Philippines. *squeee*

Yep. I’m done now ^_^
